Celebrate at Home in Authentic Irish Style

Celebrate at Home in Authentic Irish Style

Everyone’s favourite celebration is just days away. Wednesday, March 17th marks St Patrick’s day – the day we celebrate Ireland’s patron saint. For the most part, it looks like we will all be celebrating St Patrick’s Day from the comfort of our home this year. However, despite the lockdowns and restrictions caused by Covid-19, we can still celebrate in authentic Irish style.

How to Look Sharp for St Patrick’s Day

St Patrick’s Day Essentials for Him

The dapper Irish gent need look no further than our striking collection of classic Irish tweed, Aran and gentleman’s accessories. Start your look with a shirt of pure Irish linen or soft cotton. Both the classic fit and collarless grandfather shirts are firm favourites.  Layer up for warmth with a handsome Ryan Tweed Herringbone wool waistcoat and Sean Tweed overcoat in olive green. Alternatively, you might prefer the warmth of a lambswool sweater and Kingston waterproof jacket.

Accessorise for St Patrick’s day with a tradition tweed flat cap, or opt for the tweed and suede green box check baseball cap. Finish your look with a scarf made from the softest alpaca wool from Mucros Weavers Studio in Killarney, a lambswool scarf in Shannon Check or a  tweed Moss Green Bow tie.

St Patrick’s Day Essentials for Her

Add a pop of colour to your St Patrick’s day outfit with one of our stylish herringbone or plaid pieces. The Mucros Tweed Poncho in multi vernal plaid and the Amy Connemara Cape – Multi-Mulberry, are both woven beautifully with greens, blues and purples. For a smaller splash of colour, look to our accessories range, which boasts cherise scarves, pink plaid newsboy hats and backpacks, and wraps with teal checks.

For a dramatic silhouette, we recommend the cashmere blend hooded cape or belted wool bouclé tweed cape – turquoise & navy plaid. Topped off with a wide-rimmed Ladies Boston Jack Wool Felt Hat in olive, you are guaranteed to turn heads this St Patrick’s day.

If you plan to stay cosy at home, then make sure you are as snug as can be in cashmere Aran cable leggings. These leggings have fast become must-have loungewear staples for their warmth and versatility. Paired with our soft trellis wool ponchos or cable Aran wraps, you will have never felt comfort like it before.

St Patrick’s Day Essentials for The Kids

Any excuse to dress up kids in extra cute outfits should be taken.  St Patrick’s day is no exception. Get the kids decked out this year in colourful Aran ponchos and Irish tweed herringbone waistcoats. Reminiscent of everyone’s favourite childhood caped heroine, the Irish Tweed Raspberry Cape with Hood is bound to delight.

If you have tiny ones in your life, then they are sure to love our Baby Shepley Aran Mittens and matching Aran hat with ears. For the full look, add a Baby Shepley Aran cardigan or even the adorable booties!

Are you planning to send gifts to the loved ones you can’t see this St Patrick’s day? Send love in the form or a cuddly Irish sheep soft teddy, handknitted teddy bear with his very own Aran sweater or an Aran wool sheep teddy. For older kids, our navy herringbone hairband with its raspberry bow is a fast seller. As are the children’s tweed flat caps in silver, green and patchwork.

St Patrick’s Day Essentials for The Home

Celebrating at home this St Patrick’s day is the perfect excuse for adding Irish charm to your house. Festoon your living room, and bedrooms with gorgeous tweed and lambswool throws. Available in every colour imaginable, from the pinks and blues in the Donegal Tweed Mediterranean fringed throw to woven greens inspired by the Atlantic ocean and the western coastline of Ireland.

Representing counties Kerry, Cork, Dublin, Galway and Mayo? Foxford Woollen Mills has crafted a throw collection in each county’s colours. These pure merino wool throws feature  a luxury herringbone weave and finished with a rolled fringe. The perfect accessory for a proud county home.

For added shamrock fun, opt for the large (or medium) merino wool shamrock throw and beautiful baby blanket.

Gifts for Irish Loved Ones

Many people like to send Irish gifts to loved ones overseas for St Patrick’s day. Let your family and friends know that you’re thinking of them when you can’t be together to celebrate. Popular gifts collections include our Celtic jewellery range and Eileen McNulty artwork.

Sporting the symbols of the ancient Irish Celts, our jewellery range has necklaces, brooches, earrings and rings to suit everyone. Send a gift of love, friendship and loyalty with a Claddagh ring or pendant or classic shamrock shaped earrings and bracelets.

An ideal gift for family who are far from home, Eileen McNulty’s embroidered landscapes evoke scenes of Ireland’s natural beauty. Available in a range of sizes, these colourful artworks are bound to be received with a smile.

From all of us at Weavers of Ireland – have a very happy St Patrick’s Day.
